Sarah Cavallero, MBA

Executive Director

In 1999, Sarah graduated from Prescott College with a BA in Wilderness Therapy and received a Master’s of Business Administration from Colorado State University in 2005. She worked at Red Top Meadows as a Childcare Worker from 2001-2003 and then for the Van Vleck House creating after school programs for children in the community. Sarah left her work with TYFS in 2004 to work as a Grant Writer for Teton County. She returned to TYFS to serve on the Board of Directors from 2007-2011. Sarah assumed a position as the Director of Operations in the Fall of 2011 and transitioned to the role of Executive Director in 2019. Sarah is married with 2 children.

Chris Moll, M.S.W, LCSW

Chris has worked with Teton Youth & Family Services since 1991 serving youth in just about every capacity the agency offers. Prior to becoming the director of the Hirschfield Center, Chris worked as the Clinical Director of Red Top Meadows. He has recently become our Director of Licensing and Accreditation for all of TYFS. He received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from San Jose State University in San Jose, California.

Tom Concannon, LMFT

Tom received a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in 1988, and came to Red Top to work for the next ten years. Tom went to graduate school at Pacific Lutheran University, earning a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2002. After graduating he worked in community mental health in Seattle and Tacoma Washington for four years. Tom returned to Jackson to be the therapist at The Van Vleck House. After eight years in this position Tom became the Director at Red Top Meadows in January 2015.

Martina Hansen, BA

LIn 2002, Martina graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in Health Education and Promotion with an emphasis in Emergency Medical Services. Martina’s love for the outdoors moved her back to Jackson after college, where she immediately started working in the accounting field. She would do health education jobs on the side to get her fill of helping people. In 2006 Martina started working at Teton Science Schools and the love for nonprofits grew. She continued doing accounting work, but also was able to help many people along the way. When she had the opportunity to work at Teton Youth and Family Services, she jumped at the opportunity. She is excited to be apart of a great team! The love of the outdoors brought Martina to Bondurant which is where she resides. She is married and has two dogs.

Emma Getsinger, BA

Relationship and Events Manager

Originally from New England, Emma graduated with her Bachelor of the Arts in US History from Bates College in Maine. During her time at Bates, she was the captain of the women‘s varsity lacrosse team and organized a youth outreach program connecting children in the local Lewiston-Auburn elementary school system with the Bates’ varsity collegiate teams for mentorship programs and gamedays. After graduation, she decided to follow her love for the mountain west and moved to Jackson, which she has called home since 2015. Within Teton County, she has worked in many different jobs, but has always strived to connect with the local community through volunteering and other outdoor activities. Emma is the assistant coach of the girls high school lacrosse team through Jackson Hole Lacrosse Club. In the winter season, she is a ski patroller for Snow King Mountain Resort. She believes in the empowerment of youth through sports and the outdoors, and is very excited to be continuing this as a member of the TYFS team!

Emmie Johnson, BA

Born and raised in the Southeast, Emmie earned her undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies in Birmingham, AL. In 2012, she moved out to Jackson to embrace the mountain lifestyle. Over the years, Emmie has worked in various fields in Jackson, where she further developed her leadership and team-building skills. These experiences culminated in her joining the TYFS admin team in April 2024. In her off time, you can catch Emmie doing all the outdoor things like skiing, rafting, biking, or gardening.

Matia Wilson, MSW, LCSW

Matia is originally from Vermont where she received B.As in Psychology and Anthropology and began her work with youth in the field of Special Education. She moved to Jackson in 2012 to work as the Head Wrangler at a local dude ranch and explore the mountains. Moving to Laramie, WY she attended the University of Wyoming for her Master of Social Work. While at the UW she worked with student veterans and undergraduates through the University’s counseling center and focused her degree on clinical practice and community outreach. Matia moved back to Jackson to pursue her passion of working with young adults and teens, aiming to take a systemic approach to therapeutic interventions.

Mackenzie Kirkpatrick, MSW, LCSW

In 2020, McKenzie graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Southern Oregon University. During her time as an undergraduate student, she simultaneously worked for the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) in various capacities, providing essential support to families. While working at ODHS, McKenzie realized her desire to work more directly with young individuals, she transitioned to becoming a School Social Worker at a public high school in Southern Oregon. In this role, McKenzie offered support to high school students, addressing their social, emotional, and behavioral needs. In 2023, she earned her Master of Social Work from Portland State University, further expanding her expertise in the field. With over eight years of experience working with youth and families in the public sector, McKenzie is thrilled to join the TYFS team. As a therapist at Red Top Meadows, McKenzie provides comprehensive therapy services to the youth residents of the residential treatment and therapeutic wilderness program. With her knowledge, compassion, and dedication, McKenzie is committed to empowering young individuals and guiding them towards a brighter future.

Kayla Barglowski, MSW, LCSW

Originally from Connecticut, Kayla has always loved the mountains and is so excited to be in Jackson. Kayla first received a BS in Childhood and Special Education from New York University in 2017. After teaching for a few years, she began the shift to social work, wanting to support children and families in meeting their needs. Kayla received a Master in Social Work from the University of Connecticut in 2023 and is thrilled to be a part of the TYFS family. She strives to empower youth and their families through processing stressors, understanding emotions, and identifying skills and strategies that work for them.

Margaret holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland. She works with children, adolescents, families, and individuals providing therapy and family advocacy support. She currently lives in Jackson with her husband and three children.

Emily is from Connecticut and moved to Jackson after graduating from Sewanee: The University of the South in 2018, where she received a BA in English and Psychology. She worked as a Head Teacher at a local preschool for 2 years, during which time she developed close relationships with her students and their families. Wanting to expand her clinical knowledge, Emily transitioned to work as childcare staff at the Van Vleck House while attending the Master of Social Work hybrid program through the University of Wyoming. After graduating with an MSW in 2023, Emily joined the Hirschfield team to continue supporting the community. Emily aims to empower and support children and families through strength-based, holistic interventions.

Ted has been working within the field of experiential education in various capacities since 2006. Joining the Red Top staff in 2012, he worked as child care and wilderness field staff before assuming his current position. Ted has experienced, led, and learned from every aspect of the Red Top wilderness experience, seeing firsthand the positive effects and skills that can be gained by traveling in small groups through the mountains. In addition to his role at Red Top Meadows, Ted also oversees the Jackson Hole Leadership Program, helping youth develop leadership skills, resilience, and confidence through experiential learning and adventure. He is thrilled to provide excellent therapeutic adventure programs for youth at Teton Youth and Family Services.

Wes Gabel, M.Ed

Wes is from Minocqua, WI and received his Bachelor’s from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2013. From 2015-2020 Wes taught 8th grade general science in Hayward, WI. While teaching he obtained his Master’s from the University of Wisconsin Superior. In summer 2020 Wes moved with his wife to this area and immediately began teaching at Red Top Meadows. After one year of teaching at RTM, Wes stepped into the Director of Education role and is fulfilled by the role in shaping our youth’s education while in treatment.

Patty Schengber, BA

Patty grew up in the Tidewater region of Virginia along the York River and Chesapeake Bay. She moved to Jackson after graduating from college in 2019 and is so grateful to have called Jackson her home over the last five years. Patty first found TYFS through the Jackson Hole Leadership Program, where she worked as a Youth Counselor in 2020 and as a Program Manager in 2021. She then transitioned into working full-time as Childcare Staff at Red Top Meadows in 2021 and 2022 and started with the Diversion program in 2023. The Juvenile Diversion Program combines her passions for working with kids and community partners in a supportive environment. She hopes to be a positive presence in kids’ and families’ lives as they navigate through challenging times while fostering personal growth and development.

Austin Coviello, BA

Austen grew up in small-town Massachusetts and went to college at New York University, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Childhood and Special Education with a minor in Spanish. She then taught 4th grade in Newton, MA, before moving to Jackson in 2018 and becoming a preschool teacher. Working with kids has always been Austen's passion, and joining the TYFS team has created a culmination of all the things she values. Her husband, Dakota, is a local fly-fishing and snowmobile guide, and they welcomed their son, Gus, in 2023. Austen enjoys spending her time with her family and two dogs while floating the river, going out for ice cream, or relaxing at home.

Hailing from all corners of the country, Van Vleck Child Care Staff are tasked with the daily care and supervision of our residents. Each of these individuals excels at building relationships with our clients and creating a safe and predictable environment. Creating this environment requires establishing healthy boundaries, reinforcing choices and behaviors through the use of natural and logical consequences, helping residents develop internal self-control by highlighting new growth and change as well as engaging in enriching activities. Child Care Staff undergo 30 hours per year of in-service training on topics including:

  • Professional ethics and conduct
  • Strengths-Based, Solution Focused and Competency-Based treatment approaches
  • Understanding the effects of trauma on child development
  • Right Response system of crisis management
  • Emergency procedures
  • Medication management
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Adolescent development
