Crisis Shelter & Holding Facility

The Crisis Shelter provides crisis placements for up to 30 days for youth ages 10-18 who are in a variety of crisis situations including: youth who are out of control of their parents, are minor legal offenders, are in need of safe shelter due to homelessness, abuse, neglect, or family violence.

The purpose of the Crisis Shelter is to keep youth safe from harm, identify areas of concern, and assist in meeting the needs of the child and family.

This residential program still operates as preventive and community-based care. The child receives treatment immediately, close to their home environment and schools, keeping them within the community and connected with their family and friends. 80% of youth who receive treatment and support through the TYFS residential programs find the help they need and will not require higher levels of care.

Safe Room

In cases where a family feels they can't keep their child safe from suicide and the child can't go to the crisis shelter yet due to the acuteness of crisis, this room is a 24-hour supervised option for kids to stay in for a max of 72 hours. Most children only stay from 24 to 36 hours. During this time, they work closely with the child to decrease the acuteness of suicidality through relationship. From here, most kids move to a crisis bed.

Continuum of Care

We always start with the least restrictive care and, if necessary, move on to more involved intervention.
