Teton Youth and Family Services (TYFS) is celebrating 40 years of helping children and families of all types find their way to fulfilling and constructive lives. To commemorate this momentous achievement and ensure another 40 years of success, current and former board members, along with loyal community partners, have created a $150,000 challenge grant that will match donations 2:1.
“TYFS is an essential institution in this valley. Since 1977, we’ve been serving families of all types, helping to ensure that children are safe and families are thriving. As families thrive, so does our community. A gift to TYFS is an investment in this community,” April Norton, Board President, stated.
Annually, TYFS serves over 650 individual children and families. 85% of the youth served in residential programs do not go on to a higher level of care and 100% of the families involved in the Family Advocate Program are safe with their children.
The 40th Anniversary Challenge Grant was made possible by 64 individuals who have either served on the TYFS Board or are one of the organizations loyal partners. The Grant of $150,000 aims to inspire additional gifts totaling $300,000 to meet half of the annual operating need for the organization.
“Our community benefits when our neighboring youth and families who are struggling receive help. We benefit directly in reduced law enforcement and judicial costs we benefit indirectly by knowing youth and families are making better personal decisions. Families are the fabric of a community and stronger families make for stronger communities. Making our community stronger is the foundation of community philanthropy” Mitch Dann, Board Member remarked on the Challenge.
TYFS is a $3 million a year non-profit organization and raises approximately 28% of its annual, year ending June 30th, operating need through private philanthropy.
40th Anniversary Challenge Grant Partners
A summary of the Challenge is as follows:
To initiate our drive towards raising $850,000, our current and past board members along with loyal community partners have anchored a Challenge Grant with a collective $150,000 gift.
With a $150,000 Challenge Grant, at a 2:1 match, we would yield $450,000 or over half of this year’s philanthropic needs. A gift or pledge, in whatever form suits you would be appreciated. It would just need to be fulfilled in our current year ending June of 2018.
