Hirschfield Center for Children
Family Advocate Project
- Served 137 children and families in 2019
- Cost to serve one person in the program (child or family member) is $1,289 per year
- Referrals to FAP occur through Teton County School District, Jackson Community Counseling Center, Public Health, Community Safety Network, and Department of Family Services
- Forensic Interviewing: In 2019 we conducted 16 interviews, 12 were from Teton County
Court Programs
- Served 57 youth in the Juvenile Diversion Program
- 67% of those 57 Diversion Program cases successfully completed the program, 28% are still actively in the program as of 2020, and 5% were dismissed from the program.
Van Vleck House
Group Home
- Served 9 youth with an average length of stay of 145 days; totaling 1,305 user days
- 56% were from Teton County, 33% from Sublette, and 11% from Fremont County
- Cost per bed/ per day is $233 the State of Wyoming Department of Family Services (DFS) contracts for services at $141 per bed/per day
- 44% completed the program in 2019, 56% were still living at the Group Home at the start of 2020 and 0% went to a higher level of care
Crisis Shelter and Holding Facility
- Served 39 youth in 2019 with 873 user days
- The average age was 14.4
- 97% of youth returned home after an average stay of 22 days
- 85% of the youth who went to the Crisis Shelter were not in the Juvenile Justice System
- 69% were from Teton County, 8% from Lincoln, and 18% from Sublette, and 5% from Campbell.
- Our cost per bed/per day is $240, DFS pays $117 per day/per bed
Holding Facility
- Served 6 Youth in 2019
- Average Age served in 2019 was 12.8
- Average Length of stay was 16 hours
Jackson Hole Leadership Program
- In 2019 we offered 10 5-day sessions
- We served 131 youth (50 male and 81 female)
- 32 received financial aid (15 full scholarships and 18 partial scholarships)
- The average age of participants was 11.6
- We subsidize the cost of leadership by 50%
Red Top Meadows
Residential Treatment
- Served boys with an average length of stay of 10 months
- 60% of this year’s program graduates enrolled in high school towards earning their high school diploma, 33% enrolled in middle school, and 7% got their GED. No students dropped out.
- 94% of those who completed the program this data year have not returned to a program as restrictive or more restrictive as Red Top Meadows within 6 months of discharge.
- 54% of children served come from families whose income is below the poverty line for Wyoming.
- 38% served have been physically or sexually abused or have suffered severe childhood neglect
- Therapy occurs 6 times per week (1x individual, 4x group, and 1x family)
- Most of our costs are fixed, but income varies with occupancy.
Accredited School
- Students gain an average of 2 years of academic growth in reading, writing, math, and academic knowledge
- Student to Teacher ratio is 1:5 and teachers are Wyoming certified
Therapeutic Wilderness
- Offers 4 wilderness trips each year
- Summer trip is 24 days, Fall Trip is 7 days, Winter trip is 7 days, and Spring trip is 12 days– for a total of 50 field days in 2016
- We provided an elective 21 Day Summer Wilderness Program to 7 boys with 5 boys receiving full scholarships
