The Bruce Burkland Scholarship Fund was created to honor long-time Executive Director for his 40 years of work with children and families at TYFS. Scholarship Funds will directly support youth who are in need of residential services from the Van Vleck Group Home to Red Top Meadows Residential Treatment Center. The Scholarship will pay for room and board, school, transportation, and student specific items such as clothing, school supplies, or after-school programs. The intent of the Scholarship is to ensure that every child has access to the level of care that is appropriate and most therapeutic to ensure healing and recovery from traumatic events.

On January 24, 2019 the TYFS community came together to honor Bruce Burkland’s 40-year career with TYFS. Over 200 people came to honor and celebrate Bruce with countless stories celebrating his work in our community.
Bruce dedicated his life to making high-quality services available to local youth. In an effort to express our enormous gratitude for his service, we have announced the Bruce Burkland Scholarship Fund. This new Fund will ensure that any youth or family member struggling to access care can do so.
